Product Description
Sony Ericsson's W205 takes music on the move to another level. Play a few seconds of a great song you hear on the built-in FM radio and TrackID will name that tune. Use the powerful speaker to share what you're enjoying-or send it wirelessly to a friend. You can even record your own ringtone from the radio on the Sony Ericsson W205 music phone. This is the original Walkman experience - only better. Grab what's playing on the MP3 player or radio and use it as your ring tone. And carry up to 500 songs by slotting in a 2GB M2 memory card. Looking for more? How about a great 1.3 megapixel camera with digital zoom, screen viewfinder, dedicated menus and direct interaction with in-phone imaging and messaging features? Perfect for capturing those unmissable moments. That's not all - the Sony Ericsson W205 has four personal phone books, support for Bluetooth wireless connectivity, picture messaging and even an Opera web browser. All this wrapped up in a sleak slider that measures less than 10cm long and 2cm deep. What more could you ask for? What's in the box? Average rating of 3/5 Perfect for 9 - 12 Year olds as a first phone.., 2010-08-17
I won't go through all the specs, all I can say is I did not want to spend more than £30 quid on a phone , but I wanted a place to put a memory card, camera, ability to shuffle & play music & of course text & make calls, it does all this perfectly well & you do get what you pay for. I was thrilled this came with a 1gb memory stick & it is a good looking phone & a perfect size for little hands. The only thing I will say is the ear phones are a little big for small ears but you cannot have everything.
If your an adult though I would not recommend, I feel this is more a kiddy phone than anything else...

Average rating of 1/5 3 phones in less than 6 months, 2010-07-22
This phone was a nightmare. Firstly, it's poorly designed, try lowering the volume when you have the earphones plugged in. Secondly, it has a huge delay from the moment you push a button to the moment it actually does the thing you want it to do. Thirdly, unlocking it works randomly, sometimes you will slide the screen and it will stay locked. But most importantly, it was faulty. Three times. Three different phones.

The first one I had couldn't charge the battery properly, they replaced the phone, I stayed with the battery (this issue is very common, try googling the problem). Second one wouldn't read memory cards. Third phone turns off randomly. I got my money back. Overall, this was the worst mobile phone I've had in my whole life.

Average rating of 3/5 Basic phone - does the job, 2010-07-30
Not many new phones around for this price so worth it if you just want to make calls and send texts. Feels a little bit flimsy. Texting can be a bit frustrating as phone struggles to keep up. The radio works well and has much better reception than other phones I've used.

Average rating of 4/5 not that bad, honest, 2010-06-24
This is a good value phone if you want music.

good points

Easy to add mp3s from a computer. You do need to buy a cable, but then you just drag and drop suitably tagged mp3 files and you're ready to go, with songs easily selectable by album or artist. Factor in the cost of a memory card for a decent amount of storage.
Radio reception is good, but you have to have the hands free plugged in to act as an aerial.
Easy operating system, very intuitive.

Not so good:
No standard headphone jack socket. You need to buy an adapter for this.
Takes a while to read your music files from the memory card after you switch the phone on.

Not tried:
Downloaded games.
Bluetooth connections.

For 29.99, a good little phone.

Average rating of 2/5 Barely usable....., 2010-08-25
I bought this phone as a cheap replacement after losing my previous phone (a decent Sony Ericsson) and I was hoping to use it till my contract expired in a few months time.

The ergonomic design of the phone is basic, but satisfactory. The phone calls can be answered by sliding the phone open. It's a reasonable size and pretty light. It comes with the ability to play mp3's and take pictures with a basic camera, both of which are a nice touch although I would have preferred a better working phone instead.

The problem with this phone is that the hardware is unable to cope with the OS installed on the phone. The lag is horrific; I'm not the fastest text writer in the world, but I have had instances where the text I've inputted has taken seconds to appear on screen. Don't even get me started on the text prediction...Typing 'at' for example (keys 2,8) will give the text prediction 'bu'!!! Believe me, there are many instances where I've found the text prediction to provide some absurd suggestions. I've given up sending coherent texts to my friends; I just hope they can make sense of the text messages I send.

By today's standards, for this price, this phone really doesn't cut it. I've used mobiles for over a decade now and this is easily the worst I've ever used. I have bought PAYG phones before for half the price of this phone and with a lot more functionality. The low end phones I've used in the past may not have looked as sophisticated as the W205, but at least they worked properly.

The bottom line...if you desperately need a temporary phone than the W205 should tide you over for a couple of weeks until you get another phone. Don't expect to use this phone for any length time more than a month; you'll have broken it after smashing on the floor in frustration!
