fast delivery but..., 2010-02-05 i've purchased 3 of them. the cases were reached before the date that was writtten on website, but they don't look like the original. mobile phone doesn't fit on the cases. and also there was some thread in one of them. i had to cut them with scissors.
on the other hand, shipment is really fast...
Pretty poor!, 2010-02-11 Yes it's a pouch and yes, you have to remove the phone to use it. However, it's a very, very tight fit. Every time I got a call, it proved so difficult to get the phone out, I often cancelled the call. Used it for two days and gave up. Bought a nice leather cover with flip front. Much, much better.
tough cookie, 2010-03-05 The case offers excellent protection for the phone, although you do need to take care when puting the phone into it, as you can activate the various buttons when sliding it in.
Waste of money, 2010-02-20 This is the worst phone accessory I've ever bought. Once the phone is in it, you can't use it... Sure, it'll probably save it if you drop it from a height, but if you're that careless you probably should buy cheaper phones.....
Good Idea but ..., 2010-03-03 This case is a very good idea. It solves the main problem with the Nokia 5800 (or 5230 because, yes, it fits this phone too) in that these phones feature a large, unprotected touch-screen, vulnerable to bashes and scratches.
Contrary to popular belief this slip case is not rubber. It is hard plastic, coated with a rubber texture, rather like some mobile-phone bodies. The front and back are held together with elastic side inserts. The inside of the case has a thin "flock" type of lining so it doesn't scratch the phone. Included with the case is a small hinged stand with a trailing loop to attach. There's a small hole in the case to accomodate this.
The 5230 is, I believe, a millimeter thinner (UK version) than the 5800 so fits easily. It is held firm in the case and showed no signs of easily dropping out in normal handling. Neither did I have any problems with the case activating the hold switch.
The perforations in the top cover allow you to easily see any change of activity in the phone while it's on.
So it's pretty good then? Well...
If you are travelling and want to pack the phone safely, then maybe use it occasionally, I'd say it was great.
If, however, you use your phone a lot, this method of sliding against elasticated friction will quickly become irritating. The phone needs pushing out and takes two or three prods to move it far enough before it can be pulled clear. And you can't use the camera while the phone is in the case.
For sure this case is an elegant solution to a problem and really looks good, however bear in mind the limitations I've mentioned.
