 Panasonic KX-TG8424EB - extremely poor answerphone, 2010-03-03
Many good things about this phone except for the following :
(1) The answerphone is verging on the "not fit for purpose" as the quality of recording is absolutely _awful_. Many messages have to be replayed several times before they can be understood. My old separate BT Response 75 had almost as long recording time and had vastly better recording quality.
(2) The phonebook does not seem to permit "temporary edits". If you subscribe to an alternative cheap services which involve adding a prefix to a number (e.g. Talk-Talk 1363) then, depending upon day of the week and destination (UK/foreign) you will, from time to time, wish to insert the prefix to a stored number before dialling via the alternative service (e.g. Talk-Talk 1363) instead of the default service (e.g. BT). You cannot do that on this phone without first storing the number with prefix into the phonebook thus creating a second entry for the same person.... i.e. tedious.
Conclusion : If you want to use the answerphone then DO NOT buy this phone.
 Excellent phones, 2010-03-02
I bought these as a replacement for our aging BT ones. What an excellen upgrade! The quality is superb, they are generally very easy to use, and look great. Packed with features, including SMS texting. The only niggle I have is that creating a text is a bit fiddly - spelling the word "DAD" for instance. On a normal mobile phone, you press 323 and it's done. On this one, it doesn;t move to the next character, so you have to press 3, right, 2, right, 3 which takes some getting used to. Apart from that, I have no complaints. You can even copy the contacts to all other phones. I like them so much that I'm going to buy 2 additional handsets very soon, making a total of 6 which is another advantage - most systems can only handle 5 phones.
Overall, an excellent purchase.

Best cordless phones I've owned, 2010-02-28
We purcheased these phones based on the excellent reviews that we had read, and we haven't been disappointed. The clarity of sound is excellent. Crystal clear with absolutely no cutting out or crackling (unlike my previous Dect phones). They are easy to use, plenty of features, big phone book and look stunning. My Mum has purchased the same set, we hadn't even set them up, but she was looking for a cordless set and saw mine turn up. She is totally technofobic, but she loves them too. Definately a brillent buy!
Quad phones, 2010-02-27
Had a set of quad phones previously from another maker, they were absolutely useless. Put new batteries in and never lasted. Delighted with the Panasonic Quad Phones, very stylish, easy to handle. Have a 90 year old mother who can work them without any problem. The facility to transfer phone book to each phone is brilliant. Have recommended them.
