 Does anyone have 1 that works?, 2010-08-13
The printer worked fine for 1 day and then packed in. Faults were with pump and black/yellow printhead. This was the wireless version. I had also ordered the non wireless version from a different supplier, it was DOA with the same problem. No wonder HP were giving up to £50 of a rebate for purchasing one of these. I had read bad reports from others but given the number of printers sold thought this was just those who had major problems. If you have one that is working fine then you are the exception. When Toyota messed up they had to recall all cars, HP does us all a favour and pull this from the shelves.
 Difficult to set up: problems with paper feed., 2010-08-19
The spec looks good value on paper. But the easy set up I'd been promised (to a PC) took nearly an hour on the helpline to a man in South Africa. Later connection to a Mac was a breeze.
Takes ages to start up from scratch. Paper feed regularly fails giving out of paper message even though the tray is full.

I had read all the reports on this printer. Some fairly critical. Mine works fine. Up and running quickly. Print speed great after old Lexmark which was one of the best you could get 5 years ago. Scanning multiple pages into one file is just what I wanted - though not through a hopper - you have to scan each one idividually. Still using ink which came with printer weeks ago.

I have had this printer for about a month now and have had no problems at all with it, set up was easy and painless, print speed was much faster than my old 7210,I also purchased a second paper draw direct from HP,£28 no set up was required just place the printer on top and choose tray 1 or 2 and print away, touch screen spot on, wifi good range. 10 out of 10
Very disappointed, 2010-08-14
Bought this printer as a replacement for our 18 month old HP6410 printer was became uncompatible with our pc after we upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. Encouraged by good reviews for the Officejet HP8500 wireless printer we decided to try again with an HP product. Bad mistake. Bought the first printer in March 2010 and in July 2010 had to replace the black ink cartridge. Unfortunately the printer hasn't worked since as immediately after installing the new black ink cartridge it developed a printhead problem on both printheads. Rang HP helpline and they sent replacement printheads - 10 days later printheads arrived. Installed the printheads - still had printhead problem. Rang helpline and HP said they would send out a replacement printer. Replacement printer arrived about 6 days later. This replacement printer arrived with no paper cartridge or power lead and without ink cartridges or printheads installed so we had to take these parts from the printer which was being returned. Installed replacement printer connected to our wireless network OK but couldn't print from pc. Tried to print off network configuration page direct from printer and got error message "Printhead problem - black/yellow & magenta/cyan"!! Arrgh! HP are now to send replacement printheads again........ if this doesn't work we will be seeking a refund and won't be buying HP product again!
