Great product, 2009-11-29 Excellent product. Works great with PC / iPod Touch (3rd Gen) / PS3. Range was much better than my previous Belkin G router.
absolutely awesome, 2010-03-28 First off its cheape to buy here thne off bt themselves as you amy guess... but to the main point this hub incresed my internet speed wirelessly. speed test showed my speed on laptop to be 2-3mb out of 8... sucs i kno but i then changed from hub 1.0 to this 2.0 ad its double seed using same test website so.. speaks for itself and wen it comes to xbox live i can nw talk nd connect to players from america with ease
must ahve improvement from original hubs
Looks the part but the jury is still out., 2010-03-07 I was forced to make the change from my original BT hub 1.5 model simply because we had a lightning strike at home which took out the BT master socket and fried the existing home hub!
It really was a virtue of necessity. I'm a BT customer and not really technically confident to run my BT service with someone else's equipment.
My first glance on BT's own shop website was not reassuring. Complaints about the hub outnumbered plaudits by about 5:1. The chief areas of concern seemed to be problems installing, problems connecting to the internet, and the very poor technical help offered by BT.
Well there is nothing can be done about BT's technical help; we have all been in the complaints queue!
However, reading through the installation instructions for the home hub 2 I discovered that it may help to uninstall any previous BT routers first. If so, this certainly mirrored my own experience. I installed onto a brand new vista pc back in the summer. It went like a dream, and was up and running in minutes. Possibly the easiest technical thing I have done.
Now that I'm connected I'm finding that unlike the hub 1.5 which seemed to connect faster if you powered it down at the end of each session, the hub 2 prefers to stay on. In fact I find that if I do power down or the power supply is interrupted, I can reconnect but often much slower than normal.
Through experimentation I have found a self correction method which works for me on vista and has to date kept me out of the clutches of the BT helpdesk.
Firstly I power up the router with the pc already on. Next I go to control panel, network and internet. Next I click on view network status and tasks. Then I left click on view status and a new dialogue box opens with the option to diagnose. Click the diagnose option and you get the opportunity to reset your wireless adaptor. Do this and then finally go back to your hub and press the reset button on that and after a few minutes settling down the connection speed returns as good as it ever was.
I must stress I only connect one computer, and avoid having additional services such as BT broadband talk and BT vision.
For my simple needs I'm happy enough. Bear in mind that unless you are a technical genius the BT hub 2 is designed only for BT services and products.
Remember too that some BT packages provide this hub for free.
BT homehub 2.0, 2010-07-28 Worked fine for 3 months. then dropped connection all the time bandwidth terrible 0.12mbps. line checked and all sorts of calls to the helpful BT tech support...after burning a days holiday waiting in and meeting helpful engineers etc. they're sending a new one...hopefully this will work properly!
BT Home Hub 2.0, 2010-01-23 New design. Easy to install. Required the BT desktop help to configuire. 24 hours later the internet connection started dropping regularly every few minutes. BT technical help very helpful. Rung back sweveral times, line was checked and fault on line was diagnosed. This was as promissed repaired within 48 hours. They even rung back to check that all was well. Very impressed with the service received from BT. However within 10 days frequent dropped internet.connections. BT helpline very helpfull, could not resolve the issue. They send 4 enginuers in 3 days. Nio line fault but faulty equptment. I have now gone back to my original hub BT Voyager 2110, works well no problems. The supplier via Amazon refuses to communicate, but helpfull BT kindly supplied replacement hub. I am so sick of the problems that I have decided to defer trying it out. As the saying goes do not replace unless broken.
