 The phone did not work, 2010-08-09
It was not a new phone. Amazon were quick to try to solve the problem, but the phone would not recognise the new base. A refund has been supplied.

I bought this telephone because I had owned and liked and earlier version of it. I particularly like the relative weightiness of the handset compared to many other phones that feel lightweight and cheap. The larger buttons are also a bonus as I need not put on my glasses to dial!
We have not had any of the problems outlined by one or two other reviewers; ie problems with the side located scroll buttons. I think it just depends on how you hold it. My only disappointment is that I had not waited until it was in the sale at £20 less than I paid for it, though I am still happy with my purchase. A good little phone

I found I could not alter the volume on the handset. As I am going a bit deaf, this would have been useful. Otherwise OK. large buttons good for my arthritic fingers.

This phone is plastic but feels fairly solid, it's not a small phone but that's no bad thing as it feels comfortable in your hand and the buttons are large and easy to dial with. The screen isn't a flash affair with bright colours and animations - it's nice and simple and does the job well.
I use this phone a lot for conference calls and my main requirement was for it to have a clear handsfree feature and capture my input well. It does this brilliantly and when I'm sat with the phone off of the base I can switch the handset to loudspeaker and back to `normal' at the touch of a button. When on loudspeaker the sound quality is excellent and the fidelity is the best I've experienced with a cordless phone, I can speak without shouting and I can be heard perfectly clearly. Perhaps most impressive is the battery life, I often attend calls which are several hours in length and even after a 4 hour call there is plenty of battery left on the handset.
Numbers can be stored so you can scroll through contacts, they can't be copied from a mobile phone SIM Card as many higher spec phones can, but that's not something I'd expect from this model. The contact names are limited to only 8 characters so long names will have to be shortened, they are easy to read on the large screen.
The answer machine functionality is now slightly defunct with exchange based voicemail services free from most domestic phone providers these days, but for those who like a visual reminder, the answerphone displays the number of new messages and when playing them back it details the time and date.
In a nutshell: Although this may lack a lot of the features of more expensive models, it's a good all-rounder and perfect for those who aren't bothered about polyphonic ringtones and text messaging! The large screen, big buttons, and excellent volume (both calls and ringer) make this a great phone for the family home and suitable for those with limited vision.

The handset size is large due to the big size buttons
which are great only press the button you
want ,not like other small button handsets
you press two buttons in one go.
