This Telephone twin set is very good apart from a few minor problems. I find the side "up & down" buttons are in the wrong position as when you pick up and hold the phone, your hand automatically touches the buttons if you are not carefull in handling, as it is easy to press them unneccessarally. These buttons could have had a better position. I would have liked a louder ringer, but I am 66 years old and maybe a little on the deaf side, and would be loud enough for anybody else.I can hear the ringer though. Apart from this, I am very satisfied with the design and operation of this phone. The large buttons are much better than fiddly small ones. An older person with some technology experience would like this phone.
BIG buttons, GOOD phone, 2010-01-29
This is a really good phone, not quite a great phone, though. The big buttons are excellent and a real boon for older folk with failing eyesight or stiff-jointed fingers. Nice clear display too, but limited to 8 characters for names in the phonebook. Quite a big handset, but that makes it easier to hold and more difficult to lose.
The main niggle is how easy it is to turn on the speakerphone function without meaning to when answering a call. This happens if the phone is in the cradle and you pick it up to answer a call and also press the green call button. Press the green button again and it reverts to the normal earpiece. It is also difficult to avoid squeezing the arrow buttons on the side of the phone when picking it up or holding it. These adjust volume or move through menu items. Now that we have had the phone a few weeks we are more aware of how to avoid these pitfalls but they are a bit annoying to start with. The speakerphone function is actually a great facility when you need it (e.g. for several people to share in the conversation).
Transferring phonebook entries from one handset to another is also straightforward, but you need to have both handsets to hand in order to initiate the transfer from one handset and accept it from the other one before the process is shut down.
Altogether a good phone if you need the big buttons. We got a BT reconditioned unit, "as new" -- which it certainly was.
