fantastic product, absoloutely love it!, 2010-06-08 This is a fantastic product, the sound quality is unfaultable (i am not a musician or a studio worker, i play games, so even the stereo/surround sound of the product is super for that :))
would highly recomend this to anyone, especially for the price!!
Comfortable, good looking, but lack of bass., 2010-06-24 My Currys Advent branded headphones (Which sounded great) left speaker started cutting out and upon opening up the headphones I found that the break was in a part of the cord that could not be easily repaired without cutting it open. So I decided I would buy myself a nice new headset and found this one for a good price on Amazon. Some of the reviews mentions that the bass was slightly lacking but I ignored these in thinking that those reviewers must be audiophiles that where expecting professional quality sound.
They arrived very quick and were packaged in what I assume was Plantronics own retail packaging.
I quickly plugged them into my computer and tested a few songs through them but quickly found out that although they were comfortable to wear and sound quality was very clear they lacked any real bass making them sound tinny on the lower and mid ranges.
For me this was a major con and I was going to return them until my brother bought them from me half price as he only needs them as a headset to talk to people.
I have now purchased a Creative Fatal1ty HS800 headset and they sound much better.
Great Build and Sound Quality, 2010-05-04 This headset is very chunky, making it very tough, but also making it quite weighty on your head. The cabling is made of a very durable material that does not kink or split easily.
The sound quality, both playback from the earpeices and recording from the mic, is excellent and although the microphone boom does not extend all the way to your mouth it seems to pick up sound well enough.
This is not the most comfortable headset I have worn; it presses againt your head quite hard, making it painful to wear for very long periods. Fine for gaming sessions of a couple of hours, with breaks now and again, though.
The volume control and microphone mute on the cable is very useful for quickly turning down particularly loud team-mates and avoiding them hearing if you have a conversation IRL. Overall a good headset, but if you want something you can use for hours on end without ear pain - or something you don't look pretty silly in for that matter - this is not for you.
Headset, 2010-07-11 Arrived fairly quickly and easy to use. However I do find that the cord gets twisted all the time which is quite irritating
Comfortable, but lacking A LOT of bass., 2010-06-21 Having been confused about which headset to buy, I opted for these with good hopes after reading reviews. I can't fault the packaging much except that rather than heat sealing them, they used some kind of glue around the side. Still difficult to open but didn't require scissors.
I should make a note here that the cabling is rather odd. It's rubberised with grooves which felt kind of weird, but I appreciated the thickness of the cable itself until it splits into 2 jacks, 1 mic and one ear. The leads for these jacks were rather thin, and I was concerned they may break if pulled too hard. The control module felt chunky and well built, however I was not too keen on the volume control, which felt difficult to move due to its' design. I prefer a side wheel control.
On to sound quality, and oh dear. I had read it had good bass, but this could not be any further from the truth. After plugging it in to my sound card, it had absolutely no bass whatsoever. Using the Creative Console suite to add a bass boost, it only managed to add a small amount compared to my previous headset, a steelseries 5Hv2. I had to use the windows bass booster to up it, but when I got it to an acceptable level, I couldn't turn up the volume much otherwise it became easily distorted. Playing Battlefield Bad Company 2, explosions felt bloated and dull, and I had trouble placing things in the world.
On the other end of the spectrum, Highs and mids were okay, but unbalanced due to extreme lack of bass.
The microphone, while performing to requirements, it was nothing to write home about, and it lacks bendability, however I do admire the storage.
In short, build quality is good, but sound quality is a different matter.
