 Good phone but range limited, 2010-06-29
We bought this phone as my wife and I work for separate organisations from home and we needed extra handsets and to be able to talk to each other from our separate offices around the house (good for organising tea breaks!). The phones work fine but the range does not quite reach my office in the garden (20m away slightly uphill)so I have had to buy an extender. The phones worked straight out of the box with no problems

So far so good. I have been very pleased with the quad set of Panasonic phones that I purchased. They replaced a set of BT cordless phones that I had had nothing but trouble with. These have good sound quality, the answerphone is clear and the menues are easy to use. The only down side to them is the phonebook. I couldn't copy from a SIM so I had to put in each number by hand which took ages. Also the previous BT set automatically copied any new entries to the other hand sets; with the panasonic you have to tell it to copy to each of the other hand sets one at a time. Apart from that I think they were a good purchase.

Panasonic KX-TG8424EB Colour DECT Quad Telephone with Answer Machine - Black Before ordering the telephone I read the reviews. The experience of one purchaser was that the contact with the base station, all over the three story house was poor, and gave the system a very low rating. As I too have a three story house and, even worse, I have electric ceiling heating on each floor to act as a potential barrier, I was preparing myself for a quick 'return to sender'. The system arrived on 17/02/10 and I installed it on the 18th without any difficulty. I installed the base unit on the ground floor and the others throughout the house, including one as far away from the base unit as you could possibly get. The result: no issues whatsoever. A very different experience from my wireless broadband connection.

I replaced my old ntl cordless phone system with the Panosonic system because I was having trouble with keeping the answer-phone facility operable. After reading reviews by various Amaozon customers of the systems purchased I decided that the Panasonic system was the most suitable replacement which proved very easy to install and programme. The downsides are that the ring-tone volume even when set a maximum cannot easily be heard at a distance and using a hand-set remotely-out in the garden-from the base unit does at times, tend to develop a reception breakdown.
