Bought for my Mum, 2010-01-29 Easy to set up, simple to use. Very loud ringtone, which can obviously be reduced, but ideal for the purpose.. My mum has lost some of her hearing recently... A good product.
Purchase with care (& keep the receipt), 2010-02-21 I purchased this phone without checking reviews. In short I encountered all of the problems described elsewhere, from intermittent clicking and screeching noises to poor quality voice tx/rx. Mainly bought them for the look and the speakerphone function. Speakerphone also has duplex issues i.e. cuts words off at the beginning and end of sentences leading to a couple of amusing first calls. Handsets also have a tendency to slip out of the cradle when putting them in. I returned the product the next day and went for a Panasonic twin set with answerphone for the same price - not quite as aesthetically pleasing but immeasurably better in every other respect (KX-TG6422ES ). Shame on you BT for keeping such a poor product on the market.
This phone is cordless but not hands free!, 2010-02-21 The graphite phone looked attractive enough on the shelf and it appeared to be the ideal answer to my dying cordless phone on the shelf outside the kitchen. It was thus that I purchased a set and bore it home.
It was easy to plug in and get started, and the menu section was intuitive and I was able to put in a few phone numbers without difficulty. The keyboard was clear and it was simple to dial numbers and make calls. The sound quality was reasonable.
This, however, was where it stopped. The reason that I use a cordless phone is that it allows me to go around the house and carry out tasks whilst chatting to friends. Often, I wash up, scrub floors, sort out the washing and even go on the internet - sometimes to look up things that are the subject of conversation. Unfortunately, this means that the phone needs to tuck neatly into one's shoulder so that hands are free - and this it does not do well. It soon became apparent that it protested to my "hands free" method by emitting a series of "beeps" as I inadvertently pressed buttons. These meant that I could not hear the caller. Occasionally, I just got cut off mid flow. Undaunted, I have tried to use the speaker phone but have found the sound quality really very poor at times. My previous phone was perfect in that it combined good functionality with the flexibility I required.
In summary, this phone style is fine if you do not mind that cordless just means that you are detached from the base unit but if you, like me, are a physical multi-tasker I would look elsewhere.
Good quality & value for money, 2010-02-07 I have been very impressed with these handsets! They are very easy to use with excellent sound quality.
I would recommend to anyone looking for a value for money, simple and reliable handset.
no dialling tone!, 2010-01-17 I bought this phone in January 2009 and it worked ok for about 4 months, then we realised that it was no longer ringing when someone called, and shortly after that, we were unable to get a dialling tone in the phone. I had to go online to access the full user guide however this has fairly rudimentary advice in case of problems, eg check the phone is plugged in etc. I rang the helpline; the lady gave me instructions to revive the phone, but this did not work. I then made the mistake of leaving the phone for sevral months before trying again at my new address. Same problem despite changing the handset batteries, same advice from the helpline, which again did not work. returning to the helpline, all they could suggest was taking the phone back to Tescos, where I had bought it, and they would swap it for a new model. Sadly too late as the guarantee had run out! i will not be buying another BT phone in a hurry as i am too nervous of the same problem again.
