 very disappointed!, 2009-11-01
I bouht this phone to be used outside but the range is only up to 400m instead of 1Km. After 1 year the phone stopped ringing, it works inside but doesnt matter what we do it does not work outside. Now i am looking for another phone to buy as this 0ne no longer works.

I have just bought 2 of these as my "old" triple DECT set was on its last legs and I must say I am impressed so far. I went for these as my previous triple set phones had been reduced to 2 very poor condition units, one with a cracked screen and the other screen is virtually un-readable - the 3rd died when my wife got it wet!!
These phones are functional - if you want a slim pretty handset these are not for you, but if you just want a phone to make calls with and want something that won't fall apart if you drop it or can handle day to day accidental abuse then these are perfect. They claim to be IP54 and by looking at the seals and screws that hold the battery cover in place I would say they will fair up pretty well. I don't intend to test their claims but I'm sure in time the wife will!!
I bought 2 complete base sets as it was cheaper than buying an additional handset and have put the spare base in the attic in case I should ever need it. The first phone connected 1st time to the base station but I had trouble connecting the 2nd. A quick call to the BT freefone helpline soon sorted this out though - very helpful guy talked me through the setup and took less than 5 minutes. Key functions / menu are bit awkward but I'm sure it's just a case of getting used to the phones. Not much of a phone programmer as I rarely use the things so can't comment on that but I think these will last well. The phone rang the other night when the misses was washing up and she answered it without drying her hands!!

Bought the phone specifically for use outside - we have large garden and wanted a phone with good range, robust and waterproof.
Good: It does what is says on the box and met my criteria. The LED torch is quite a nice bonus!
Bad: Annoying ring tones/melodies and tunes - a straight ring-ring would have been acceptable!
When I wrote this review, I thought it had reached the end of its life and was preparing to bin it - rated it a 2 star. It did not seem to charge and behaved unpredictably. However a last ditched attempt to try another base prompted me to remove the batteries, which reset the phone and its magically working again! So I would upgrade (but can't) my review to 3 or 4 stars.

Suited us perfectly.
Longer range gives better coverage in and around our house which has two foot thick stone walls.
Separate units for the transceiver and the charger allow the transceiver to be placed in the optimum position.
Incoming call quiet, 2008-10-30
I bought 4 of these thinking that as they were recomended for outside use they would be quite loud as my wifes hearing is a little deminished.
I find that even I find it hard to hear the incoming caller and my hearing is good, I also found the problem varies from phone to phone some are worse than others so we only use the best one.
Otherwise not a bad phone.
