Worked alright to begin with - but after a while the phones would no longer charge and went dead as soon as you picked it up from its base station.
On top of that the speakers and buttons are just too small.
Good in aesthetics but bad in performance, 2009-02-12
Bought this a year ago as I saw it at my friends house and I was just amazed by its look. I guess it was impulsive buying as I never tought about looking at reviews before purchasing it. No doubt about its aesthetic qualities as it was nice to look at and light and small. Setup was easy. I didn't find it particularly easy to press the tiny buttons. People with arthritis should steer clear from this phone. Handheld unit stands very wobbly on the base unit. Both the earpiece and loudspeaker volume is terrible that I always have to press the phone firmly against my ear. Just after a year of using it, it started failing. The unit will just turn off completely after two rings even if display shows a fullcharge. When it turns on again, display will show a drained battery. Not sure if it is just the battery or the actual unit. I had two options...first is to try new batteries which would cost me about £7 and the other is to just buy a new unit, a different brand of course. I opted for a new Panasonic cordless phone as I didn't want to take the risk of buying new batteries just to find out that the actual unit is the one at fault. And besides, I could no longer tolerate the poor performance of this iDect phone.

The phones are not good, they are always either going dead or you can hardley hear the person on the other end even the volume is high. After fully charged it only last one call before it dies out.
It was a waste of money and I am really disappointed.

I have used these telephones for a year or so. They look good, are light to hold and I did not have a problem with the sound quality, however, after talking to someone for half an hour, the phone beeps into my ear intermittently but continuously, telling me it needs to go back onto its base for a battery charge, until it suddenly goes dead, which is about an hour. By now you are so annoyed by the beeping you are glad its gone off! The answering machine is accessed via the menu in the phone which is irritating. The other handsets had various problems so i ended up with 2 out of four working. I have now ordered a Siemens after carefully reviewing phones on the internet. I would never recommend an Idect X1i.
