 Just get 2 plastic cups & a length of string!!, 2007-11-23
I have owned one of these since they first came out about a year ago.
It has been turned off & not used for the last 10 months, a complete waste of money.
The signal range from day one was pants (10Mtrs on a good day).
The signal/sound quality was very susceptible to interference from the cooker to I kid you not turning the shower on!!
The keys are small & very flimsy.
Even with the volume turned up on full it was so quite it still sounded like I was having a face to face conversation with someone 20Mtrs away (If they could do that with the sound why not the signal??).
As another reviewer said if it gets a slight bang it turns itself off & you have to remove the batteries to reset it.
If the batteries run out it wipes all your settings (including phone book!!) & you have to leave it on the base for an hour before you can even turn the stupid thing back on.
The battery life isn't long so it was always on charge.
The ring tones must have been made by a 2 year old with a kid's fisher price keyboard.
And the pro's...
It looks nice, a great item to chuck at things like the neighbours cat when it comes into the garden... oh & it has a Blue screen...

I've owned this phone for around 6 months, and it's on its way back to the shop... Although it looks good, and is easy to use, the signal strength is poor. This has deteriorated over the time I've had it, and now to make phone calls the handset has to be within 2m of the base. That'll teach me for putting aesthetics over functionality!

I never thought I would review this phone. It sports a futuristic design and average functionality. For the price I was happy with it, but wouldn't take the time to review it... Until tonight. The phone accidentally ended up tangled in a blanket and put through the washer/dryer. Amazingly, the phone still works. Indeed, it works just as well as the day we bought it. I would not recommend trying this, but the washer/dryer incident has demonstrated that this phone is surprisingly durable. For that reason alone I would recommend it.

This phone not only looks good it is very functional, it has a lot of extra buttons speaker, phonebook, caller id, even a babysitter setting so you do not have to worry that your phone bill is being abused.
The price was the best in town, no one could match it.
idect x1 cordless phone, 2007-07-11
We bought the idect x1 twin pack then two additional handsets direct from binatone. They are good to look at but, they are going back we have had them for five weeks and at first were great but, now the reception is getting worse by the day unless right next to cradle. I phoned the customer service who were great when we were buying them but, it`s different now we are complaining. Its all four handsets that have got problems and we have been out to buy a cheap set of phones just so we can hear without all the interferance. I would not but these again.
