This phone was recommended to me as one of the best camera phones on the market even though its now been around for four years. Its my first Sony purchase and more than fulfills my expectations, beautifully built with all the functions I could wish for. I am delighted with.

Excellent phone! Very pleased!, 2008-12-26
I chose this phone really for two reasons - firstly I liked Sony Ericsson, and secondly that I was informed it had a very long battery life.
But there could have been plenty of other reasons! The buttons are all very nicely placed on the phone, and it's very user-friendly. The buttons are also nice and easy to press (not too small or too close together!).
Not least, I was very impressed with the features the phone has. Obviously it's a Walkman phone, and it has a 2 MP camera (which is enough for an occasional user), and it can also do all the basics we expect from a phone. But very nice bonuses were the FM radio, and a pedometer! I had never thought about having a pedometer in a mobile before, but now I realise that this is an ingenius idea (nice to see how far I've walked!).
One can also personalise the phone so that the buttons on the circular dial immediately bring up a certain feature.
Not sure I'd go for a slidey phone next time, but I certainly would recommend this model for those seeking a slidey phone!

Very good phone with a few hitches., 2009-10-11
The phone looks really cool and feel good in the hand. It's well designed and so far (I've had it a month) it works very well.

The pros are:
- The sound quality in conversation is good
- The menu layout ect. is wel designed
- The camera is excellent and really handy to have
- The walkman is brilliant and doesn't affect the battery although at top volume the sound quality is lost
- The accessories are really good, an attachable speaker that clarifies the sound at top value
- 8GB memory card as standard

The cons:
- Really ugly, fussy designs for the display themes
- I had a problem with signal and losing conversations but Orange told me to swith off 3G in the mobile networks section and switching to standard GSM mode
- The software provided with this is a little complicated and took up to much space on my old laptop
- The battery doesn't last long (3 days) but takes a short time to fully charge (1 hour)

To be honest I've always had Nokias and when I'm finished with this I'll go back to Nokia since this is a little style over substance. For me it's aimed at a younger (16-20) market. I use my phone largely for business and this I think is a phone made more for fun than for purpose. Slightly style and features over function and phone calls but on the whole, if you're not an old fuddy duddy like me, this might be for you.

This is a nice phone and easy to use. It does what it says on the instructions. Standby time good and reception near perfect. Well worth the money.

Best Mobile Phone I've used. Wish they still made them !, 2008-05-29
Having had most of the Nokia phones over the past decade I was very pleased when I bought my first 6230i - better than the 6230 and as easy to use. Small and neat. The camera is good and I've even printed off the photos onto a calendar with surprisingly good results. I find the menus easier and more straightforward to use than the new gimmicky phones around at the moment. Sound quality is great and the video feature is useful and good quality too. Sturdy and robust. Pity they don't make them any longer - I've had to trawl round for a reconditioned one to replace my faulty three year old one.

A good buy if you can find it, 2010-02-22
This phone is no longer available from network operators but can still be bought from independent vendors. The phone is well made, with a nice tactile feel to it. It fits easily into a pocket without being heavy or bulky. The display is clear and bright and the keys work with a positive feeling. Battery life is good. The digital voice recorder is easy to use and gives good sound quality. The camera produces good images but the display is very hard to see in direct sunlight. Phone operation/phonebook/ringtones are all fairly standard.It is supplied with a Windows PC package that lets you create and send text messages and manage your contact book using your PC. This works fine with XP but does not work with Windows 7

A truly great phone for the price., 2009-11-26
My wife has been using this phone for 4 months and it has worked faultlessly. It is neat, easy to use and has a depth of applications that is quite frankly fantastic for the price. Highly Recommended.

Pros

Light and a good size but not pocket sized.

Highly robust software with no major glitches so far.

Incredible range of applications supplied and more to buy and download.

8Gbyte of storage on a card.

A very easy to use phone that has a very adaptable interface.

Very good display.

Very good quality MP3 player. (better than several dedicated MP3 players that we tried)

Nokia PC suite work well for synchronising with your PC.

Cons

Build feels light and cheap, however it is more robust than it looks and feels but probably not good in tough work environments.

Camera and video is average.

No case was supplied and it needs one.

Only major limitation (for me that is) was that there is no Microsoft office compatible software for creating and editing office documents. Although you can probably buy an application to solve this problem.
