Average rating of 5/5 An old model mobile phone which is still very good, 2010-04-21
I had this model before and found that, apart from the very basic camera, it did everything I wanted. The wallet is so useful, containing pin-protected info, and I can access the internet easily. I believed it wasn't possible to get a new handset but I did, on Amazon, and am delighted. No need to learn anything new!

Average rating of 5/5 Fantastic Phone, 2010-07-22
This phone has been truly superb, and beats the iPhone in almost all aspects in my opinion. The touchscreen is brilliantly responsive, and with the new Android 2.1 update the software the phone is even better. In short, buy it, you won't be disappointed.

What an excellent phone.

I bought this to replace a Motorola flip.

SIM free as I go overseas a lot.

For me its ideal. Holds loads of music and good quality sound. Alarm clock, calendar, organiser etc.

My digital camera failed me so I switched to the phone and was amazed at the picture quality.

Battery life is excellent and recharging quick. Reception is always good.

Nokia maps are highly recommended. Big mini SD card capacity 4GB.

Its a quality item, solid but a smooth outline.

Really excellent all round

Average rating of 5/5 An excellent business phone, with icing on the cake, 2010-08-21
For more than 10 years I've relied on my PDA- first a Nokia, then a Psion, then a Palm, and since yesterday an E72. My basic need is to carry an address book and diary in my pocket that synchronizes with Outlook when I get back to my desk. Best to have a phone built in (the Psion compensated by having a splendid keyboard). Very good to be able to carry around documents and spreadsheets and edit them on the move. Very good also to be able to take close-up pictures of documents (effectively a pocket photocopier, needs a lens that focuses close). And good to be able to set alarms, whether to wake me up or to remind me to go off to a meeting. After that what matters most to me is usability- easy to move around in my diary, easy to search my contacts. and so on.

My first report is that the Nokia E72 does all these things very well indeed. The small screen is beautifully clear (and automatically brightens when you're in the sun). The phone has clear sound and gets a signal where my Palm didn't. The small keyboard is OK because it has raised keys that click. There are dedicated buttons for often-used functions (and if you don't like the dedication, you can change it.) The diary is very easy to use- a joy after the Windows mobile diary on my Palm. Over and over I find myself delighted by designers who have thought through the sorts of things I want to do, and built in clever twiddles to make it easier. This does mean that you need to sit down with the manual and read it through; there's a lot more depth to this than you would otherwise realise. And the manual isn't perfect- I found myself having to go to the excellent Nokia support site, and found several answers there in the postings form other users.

On top of meeting the needs I started with, the E72 has more delights. Others have not been happy with the GPS. I found that once it had established the region it is in (which takes a while even with the dedicated GPS I own) it operates at acceptable speed. I've just been for a walk in which the map was a great guide (even on the small screen on a bright day) and voice instructions told me accurately enough what to do (sometimes perhaps up to 10 metres out on things like house numbers). And the maps come free. And the camera auto-focusses down to 10cm, and there's a flash which can be used as a torch. And there's a decent English dictionary (not just a spell-check), and you can download two other languages for free so that each English word comes with a French (for example) translation. And other goodies

And what's more, the E72 connects to the web over my wireless connection at home (and presumably in the coffee shop), so I can do all these things (and use Google in the coffee shop) using my basic O2 PAYG sim. I'm delighted.

Average rating of 5/5 Sensational phone. If you thought the Hero was great...., 2010-08-21
Wait till you get your hands on one of these!!!

Whilst the HTC Desire gets all the limelight, I personally don't like the bigger phones (which is why I never bought an iPhone either). This is the perfect phone for me. I came froma HTC Hero, which I was very pleased with (more so, since it got the 2.1 Android update). The Legend is very similar (same size, similar weight), but the build quality, screen quality (AMOLED), and aluminium body takes the quality to a new level.

The Legend is currently running Android 2.1, but HTC are rolling out Android 2.2 ( aka "Froyo") to it's 2010 handsets, which include the Desire, Legend and Wildfire. That said, even with 2.1, it's VERY fast to navigate (the Hero used to "chug" sometimes). Like the Hero 1.5>2.1 update, the Legend will be even better once it gets 2.2, however it's not a desperate for it like the Hero was.

Featurewise, it lacks nothing, it's got GPS, Bluetooth, Wifi, 3G Proximity and movement sensors.

In short, if you like big phones, big displays get a Desire. If you want a slightly less "iPhone clone" Android handset, or coming from the Hero but want more of the same, but better, then get the Legend, it truly is Legendary.

The best bits:

Build quality
Screen
Speed
Full featureset

The bad bits:
Nothing springs to mind. It's VERY hard to fault it.

I like this phone as the freedom of sim cards allow me to use whatever net work but also carry my own as well. The distributors was very helpful to me as well when my first phone got lost in the post and they kept in contact with me and sent me a replacement right away. I like that.

What a nice thing it is to find something that does what it claims. Simple and easy to use. I have dropped it in puddles, dropped it down stairs and even used the high powered torch. I have even bought my son one and he uses his in the shower, just to show off. Great product if all you need is a tough phone.
