THESE PHONES ARE GREAT, THE BACK LIGHT IS ON ALL THE TIME, BUT THIS CAN BE CANSELLED IF YOU GO INTO THE BACK LIGHT AND CANCELL IT.OTHER THAN THAT THEY WILL DO MORE THAN MOST PHONES, THE RINGING TONES ARE GREAT, ONE THING WE HAD TO GET WAS A FILTER TO GO ON THE LINE SO IT DID NOT HISS , AFTER THAT IT WAS GREAT, I WOULD RECERMEND THESE TO EVERY ONE A BIG IMPROVMENT ON THE BT ONES,

We wanted to replace an old DECT phone that we loved a great deal, and after much agonising we opted for the Panasonic trio. The handset on our older phone (Philips DECT duo) was far nicer to hold, and I did try to get the one surviving Philips handset to link in with the Panasonic base unit to give us 4 phones (DECT phones are supposed to be able to do this) but no such luck. So I moved on and got to know this phone a bit better and have to admit that apart from its "handlability" it is great (and it isn't too bad to hold anyway). It takes a bit of intuition to find all the features, but the manual isn't bad, however after a while the interface is pretty natural and begins to make sense. When we added "caller ID" to our phone line we ended up with a weird and wonderful array of ringtones that we had to "correct" to something we could bear to listen to (some of the tunes are a bit naff) - yes, you can assign a ringtone to "friends & family", one to "business", one to "mobiles" etc if you like - and we've used other features such as recording a call (we wanted BT to return several thousands of pounds they owed us, and recording seemed like a good ploy after they'd stalled for 6 weeks) and conference mode together with the speakerphone ability. We also really like the ability to set the answering machine from any handset and transfer the phone list between handsets too - both really useful. The wireless reception is pretty good, we can be 60 feet away from the house (with the base unit on the far side of the house too) and get great reception when gardening - although the phone can then be a little too quiet against any background noise there may be.

One one caveat about recording calls (someone else mentioned they had done so too) is that its an offence (breach of license conditions - therefore "contempt of court") to record a phone conversation without notifying the other party that you are doing so - immediately the call begins. Perhaps few people are aware that you are granted a licence to use a phone automatically when a line is installed to your home (it is "telecommunications equipment" after all), and one of the terms of that licence is that "all parties must be informed before recording can take place." Failure to do so is contempt of the licence granted to you under the telecommunications act (hence contempt of court), so presenting someone with an "incriminating recording" of something they said, can also land the person who made the recording in trouble too!

Usually, telling the other party they are being recorded is a good way to make them behave a little better, and lets them know you are taking the call seriously. And now you know why those company call centres state that recording is taking place, usually "for training purposes" before they try to sell you something.

But I digress, this phone system is excellent and fulfils all of our needs for phones probably for years to some. if anything, I'd like to add the capability of the phone telling you the time if you are on an evenings & weekends plan as we are, just to alert you to the fact that you might be making a peak-time call. That would be the cherry on the top!

I had a basic other brand cordless for about 2 years and its just died now...never believe them.. my dad has a panosonic for about more than 10-12 years.. still works like new..

This model is gr8... the best think is you need to attach telephone line to just one set... second set can be put anywhere in the house and you need to provide the power..

sound is clear.. buttons are good and responsive.. you dont have to press really hard like my previous one.

menu are good... loudspeaker is brilliant... it looks a quality product.. so can put it in my living room.. :)

i will strongly suggest it.. and the price is really good.. i wish i should have bought this earlier..

Excellent product-finally excellent quality voip/skype calls. Now I can escape the extortionate prices and hidden fees charged by BT and Virgin!! Hoorah!! Only thing I would say is that the buttons are a bit stiff-best thing to do, I've found, is to add all numbers used to skype address book so I don't have to press the stiff buttons as much ;-) Oh... and I can't seem to adjust the volume of the earpiece and skype calls are a little bit quiet but I find if too quiet then I simply put the call on speaker.

Trivial to set up and get working.

Very clear and bright display, good sound quality and range.
I liked being able to name the individual units so phone 1 appears as "kitchen", also being able to transfer numbers from the address book from one phone to another.

Great set of phones - just what I was looking for! Easy to key in or save received numbers to phonebook and copy to all other phones - can copy whole phonebook or just a single number - love the fact that you don't have to key numbers into all phones. Redial list gives last 10 numbers - great idea! The handset has fairly large buttons so is easier for those who have dexterity problems; the display is backlit and the numbers/words are slightly larger than normal so a good aid for visually impaired. Variety of ringtones and good sound quality - you can increase the volume. Another useful feature is an alarm - can be set for a day or constantly - there are 3 alarms which can be set for different times - useful if you like a wee snooze after first alarm starts up! I don't use answering machine so cannot comment on that. There is also the facility to receive and send (only with BT) text messages - haven't used this yet but may do if mobile gives up on me. One downside (and it's a minor one) is that you cannot name the handset - you can only give a number - it's a bit hit-and-miss if you are using the phones to call internally - you never know who has what phone and where it is! My husband has discovered that you can listen in (and contribute) on another handset during calls - a bit annoying when he doesn't hang up! Phones are fairly light and speakerphone is a useful feature if your hands get sore holding it for long periods. You can use a headset with all 4 phones - quite useful if you know you are going to be on for a while and frees both hands if you need to write info down or check online during call - just like the call centre you are probably phoning! i purchased this phone, why you may wonder, well i has a panasonic t.v. and its fantastic so thought i would give the phones a go....i am so glad i did, its the best phone i have ever owned, its so clear to use and lights up so you can see what you are doing, large buttons, (being over 60 both these functions you need)..clarity of sound, great, i know some people have said well its only a phone, but i do LOVE this phone, it covers everything one would need, even got wallpapers and tones to choose from, so fun as well, what more can i say, so dont hesitate buying this phone it really is great........

I was rather sceptical at first when I opened the box, however once I had perused the instruction book it all slowly became much clearer. Not ever being really "mechanicaly/eliectrically" minded I did wonder just what I had let myself in for. My last phone had very few "extras" but it did the job until the system decided that it had a mind of it`s own and decided that enough was enough.The Panasonic was easy to get operating and the main thing is to read the instruction book which after being well thumbed by myself proved that as long as you follow instructions then you cannot go far wrong. Like many of the other reviewers I was not keen on the majority of the ring tones but decided that the "old telephone bell" would suffice for me. The handset is comfortable to hold and the screen is clear with easy to follow instructions. Altogether a very positive outcome for me as "it does what it says on the label"
