Plantronics Audio 480 with USB adaptor OK for MAC, 2010-04-16
I bought this to go with my Macbook Pro. It works well for my application which is for Skype in noisy environments, like airports and hotel lobbies. The audio quality is acceptable for this application, I would not use it for listening to quality audio. I am happy with this purchase and would recommend it if you are looking for a reasonably compact headset for skype in a noisy environment.

Not bad, bit painful on the ear, 2010-03-04
I'd recommend this product but only for occasional use.

I have two gripes:

First, and by far the biggest gripe, the clear plastic bits that hold the microphone in place (by wedging against your ear) get a bit painful quite quickly. Your ear lobe or the inside of your ear (depending on what you wedge the clear rubber bit against) will likely start hurting within 10 mins of having the headset on.

Second, it needs a USB adapter (included with the product) to work properly and this makes the whole package quite bulky and not ideal for travelling with. Sure, there's a carry case but compared to a bluetooth headset it's all rather bulky. That being said, this is way cheaper than most bluetooth headsets!

With those gripes aside, the product works as advertised on PC and Mac computers (and probably others although I've not tried) and sound quality is certainly better than using a laptop inbuilt mic and speaker, there's no nasty audio feedback for example.

In my office though I've found that using a proper desk microphone (a Røde Podcaster or similar) and normal in-ear earphones to be much higher quality and more comfortable at the downside of being lots more expensive heh. I still take the Plantronics headset with me on trips and conferences though as it fits in my laptop case quite easily. It tends to be more reliable than a bluetooth headset, especially at conferences.

The headset is great and arrived quickly, so I was able to start using it within a few days of ordering. I use it daily now and the difference it made is great. The order specifically includes the lifter, which is not in the box by default, as it's an extra. This did not come with the initial delivery, but when I notified the company, they sent the lifter out immediately. I do recommend the lifter as a really useful part of the kit.

I bought this to replace a Jawbone which continually snapped its earloops. After sales and spares with jawbone awful.

This is light, easy to pair, and the best bit; it pairs with two phones simultaneously, so if you have a company & personal phone you can answer calls from either.

If you are in the market for one I recommend this.

Other amplifying phones either don't state the increase or advertise it as a 12 db increase, this is 2.5 times that.

Simple to install and program the memory keys.

Plantronics are specialists in headsets and it shows.
