An amateur photographic enthusiast recommended the Canon Ixus 100 IS to me. I have not been disappointed with its quality (please see my customer images of wildfowl, tulips, mauve flowers in woodland, and of the blossom on a Wisteria tree). The camera has some useful functions e.g. portrait, indoor, kids/pets, night snapshot, and sunset. The macro and super macro modes produce excellent results, as does the Infinity mode when shooting landscapes and seascapes. The Program mode is very useful for manually setting the white balance and ISO to suit the surrounding conditions. The blink detection feature has been very helpful when taking photos of the family. The battery power can be saved by switching to the viewfinder, which is very useful when taking photos in brightly lit settings when an image is difficult to view using the LCD.
Another advantage is that there isn't a mode dial on the camera, which could otherwise be accidentally moved round when the camera is in your pocket.
Overall, this is a very handly, ultra-slim, lightweight camera, ideal for instant photo opportunities at any time.
